II City is a EU Interreg collaboration project between Interactive Institute Sonic Studio, Piteå Sweden, University of Oulu in Oulu Finland and Unviersity of Lapland, Rovaniemi Finland.

Short about purpose

The purpose is to through applied research generate new knowledge that enables novel applications that utilize audio modality and physical user interfaces. We also want to test, verify and utilize the new knowledge by developing innovative application prototypes. The purpose is as well to increase the total knowledge base of the region and to create better opportunities for interregional cooperation.

Some project goals

-    Study audio modality and physical user interfaces in context-aware and pervasive applications
-    Through active prototyping perform research and verify and utilize research results
-    Create technically based opportunities for new companies and product development

Plan

The project runs 2009-2011 and covers activities such as research, concept development and development of prototypes.
